Lot Essay

Wang Xiaju (1909-1995), whose sobriquet was Yenong, was from Hubei province. He worked at the Chinese Central Research Institute of Culture and History and the National Art Museum of China. He also served as a committee member of the Chinese Calligraphy Association. He was a renowned calligrapher and excelled at traditional painting, especially of plum and bamboo. He was well-known for his clerical script.
