The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
cover:
- polishing to top of finial and a chip to end of finial with associated short hairlines
- a few chips to the collar
- two U-shaped hairlines joined by a short vertical hairline to one side of the cover on the interior
- a shallow chip to the underside of the mouth, which may be original to manufacture
- areas of light polish and wear to the mouth rim
- expected wear, light surface abrasion and scratches
jar:
- some light polishing to the top of the mouth rim
- a few glaze lines encircling the underside of the foot
- a large firing crack to the foot and a few other finer firing cracks to the foot and base
- some irregularity to glaze to one upright lappet
- a few minor tiny knocks and surface scratches to the shoulder and upper body, and some general wear
