The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record the changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
the sword guard:
-there is a stained crack and a chip partially polished to the corner edge of one side
- there is a possible slight knock in the brown mottling of the corner edge on the other side the chape:
- there is a possible old shallow chip with associated pitting to the underside corner in the brown mottling
- there are two small chips to the upper corner near the holes
- there are stained fissures inherent to the stone
- numbered at the top in red ink 248, and some red ink residue to the underside
