A GILT-DECORATED RED LACQUER BOX
17TH CENTURY
The rectangular box and cover are decorated in gilt on top and on the front panels with scenes from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The box is mounted on either short side with three flower-form metal fittings suspending a ruyi-form handle, and a rectangular two-part metal lockplate and hasp at the front.
