Maple & Co. Antique Furniture (1870-1950) was one of the most successful manufacturers of fine British furniture during the Victorian and Edwardian periods. The establishment occupied a full city block in central London, and for a time was the largest furniture store in the world. A very similar example by Maple and Co. was in the collection of The Earl of Iveagh, Elveden Hall, Norfolk, sold Christie's house sale, 21-24 May 1984, lot 1373.
