The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of this lot acquired after its initial manufacture.
- As is typical of this date and type of folding screen, there is some wear especially around the hinges, with some paper tears, surface losses and associated restorations with some touching in of pigments.
- There is some slight wear to the gold leaf revealing the paper beneath, and light surface marks.
- The second panel from the right has a small depression to the paper near the bottom edge within the gold clouds.
- Far right panel with an approx. 10 cm. paper tear from the top edge.
- The brocade mount with some old wear and wormage. The screen has likely been remounted.
- The black lacquer frame with old wear overall including chips, dents, and holes to the top of the frame.
- Backing paper to left side with slight tears, otherwise good condition.
