Each with a slightly tapering body rising to an angled shoulder and short waisted neck, the neck applied with a gold kiku mon, one vase chased in relief with a stag in a continuous landscape of grasses and a stream, his antlers highlighted in gilt and his back in copper, the other vase with a doe and her young, original fitted box

Provenance
A gift from Crown Prince Akihito of Japan to Lord Hankey, Secretary to the Cabinet (1916-1938) on the occasion of his visit to the UK in May 1953, and thence by descent to the present owner.
