FOUR LACQUER KOGO [INCENSE BOXES] AND TWO KAGAMIBAKO [MIRROR BOXES]
EDO - MEIJI PERIOD (18TH - 19TH CENTURY)
Each decorated in gold and some with silver and coloured lacquer;

1. a rectangular kogo with birds in flight above autumn grasses and flowers against a brown ground, the interior and base sparse nashiji, containing six inner boxes wrapped in fabric with the paper labels indicating incense types, each further containing a metal incense container or paper wrapping, 10.8 cm. long

2. a rectangular kogo with a hawk perched on a rock amongst tempestuous waves on a black ground, the interior and base sparse nashiji, 7.2 cm. long

3. a rectangular kogo with a running horse on a brown ground, the interior sparse nashiji, 5.9 cm. long

4. a circular kogo with a spray of plum on a black ground, the interior in dense nashiji, 6.8 cm. diam.

5. a circular kagamibako with aoi mon [family crests with wild ginger] on a black ground, the interior and base sparse gold and silver nashiji, 11.5 cm. diam.

6. a rectangular kagamibako with clematis flowers and foliage on a black ground, the interior black lacquer, 12.3 cm. long
