HEIAN - MEIJI PERIOD (12TH - 19TH CENTURY)
1. A heavy round silvered metal thick high rimmed mirror, deeply worked with design of the island of immortality Horaisan supported on the back of a huge turtle, signed Tenkaichi Izumi (no) kami Fujiwara Sadatsugu, Edo period (17th century)

2. A heavy round deeply-worked silvered metal with Horaisan, central boss of a turtle, and standing cranes, with three mon in roundels, encircled wisteria, oak leaves, and tachibana [mandarin orange], signed Tenkaichi Nakajima Izumi (no) kami Fujiwara Sadatsugu, and dated Manji yonnen sangatsu Kichijitsu [an auspicious day in 1661], Edo period (17th century)

3. A heavy round deeply-worked silvered mirror with Horaisan in which two adult standing cranes and two fledglings, a koto bridge mon in a roundel, and two roundels with bamboo grass mon, Signed Tenkaichi Nakajima Bungo no kami, Edo period (17th century)

4. A heavy round deeply-worked Horaisan pattern on the back of a huge turtle, with two flying cranes, signed Tenkaichi Inaba (no) kami, Edo period (17th century)

5. A square mirror with stylised profile of Horaisan and adjacent mountainous islands, and a fence topped with pine fronds

6. A small rectangular mirror with a butterfly on a nanakoji ground, signed Tenkaichi

7. A square mirror with dew on grasses and four butterflies, signed Tenkaichi

8. A vertical rectangular mirror with the sun rising over turbulent waves, signed Amamasa (derived from Tenkaichi) Tsuda Inaba (no) kami Ieshige

10. A square mirror with a sand bar, a fence, bamboo and a plethora of Paulownia sprays intimating mon, and two flying birds, Momoyama - Edo period (late 16th – early 17th century)

22. A substantial round deep-rimmed mirror with Horaisan, with pine and bamboo, a swimming turtle, and two cranes, the central boss in the form of a flaming Buddhist Jewel of Wisdom, signed Kawakami Yamashiro (no) kami Munetsugu, Edo period (17th - 18th century)

28. A small round ishimeji mirror with three groups of pine fronds in high relief

29. A round substantial double-rimmed mirror with a scatter of folding fans having chrysanthemums, pine, waves, and other auspicious motifs, central boss of a turtle with two flying cranes together meeting beaks, one fan having an embossed roundel of the Sun, Muromachi period (16th century)

30. A small round triple-rimmed mirror with a sacred landscape with sea waves, two mountains, a crescent moon, and two flying birds beak-to-beak, Momoyama - Edo period (late 16th – early 17th century)

31. A round rimmed mirror with a crown of chrysanthemums, two standing cranes on a sand bar, and an abandoned bird-catcher, Momoyama period (16th century)

32. A round double-deep-rimmed mirror with symmetrical array of chrysanthemum blossoms, the central boss of a turtle pecking together with two flying cranes, Edo period (17th - 18th century)

33. A round double-rimmed mirror with butterflies overall, plain central boss with chrysanthemum surround, Momoyama - Edo period (17th - 18th century)

34. A double deep-rimmed mirror with a regular array of two types of chrysanthemums, central boss of a turtle together with two opposed flying cranes, Edo period (17th century)

35. A heavy round silvered deep-rimmed mirror deeply worked with Horaisan, central turtle boss with two cranes standing and pecking together, young turtle and three young cranes in the shallow waters below bamboo and pines, with two mitsudomoe mon to left and right and a further group of nine mon above, signed Tenkaichi Izumi (no) kami

36. A round two-rimmed deeply-worked mirror with radial scoring between rims, central boss of a turtle looking down at a pair of flying birds, a torii [shrine gate] to the left and a honden [shrine hall] to the right, above three mountains with the Sun, and a deity in a roundel, Muromachi period (16th century)

37. A four-rimmed mirror with torii [shrine gate], honden [shrine hall], waves of the sea and two pine-covered mountains beneath the sun below one standing bird and arriving one flying bird, Muromachi period (16th century)

38. An eight-cusped double-rimmed mirror with flowering scrolling, plain round central boss, two opposed mandarin ducks, Muromachi period (15th-16th century)

39. An eight cusped double-rimmed mirror with scrolling and flowers, with a plain boss with chrysanthemum surround, two opposed flying onagadori [long-tailed birds], Muromachi period (16th century)

40. A round sharply double-rimmed mirror with young pines and Nanten [Nandin tree] on an ishimeji ground, a roundel with the character Ho [treasure], the central boss cylindrical with the four characters, signed Fujiwara Shigekatsu, Edo period (17th-18th century)

41. A round handled mirror with three panels of sailing ships, cranes flying over the sea, and pine trees on an ishimeji-ground, the two characters 'Wa' and 'Ka' (Japanese poetry), signed Nishimura Bungo (no) jo Fujiwara Masashige, Edo period (19th century)

42. A rectangular handled mirror with dandelions in relief on an ishimeji ground, the character kotobuki, signed Tanaka Iyo (no) kami Fujiwara Yoshishige, Edo period (19th century)

43. A round handled mirror with sudare [hanging screen] and kicho [palace curtain] on an ishimeji ground, the characters 'Hana' and 'Tachibana', signed Amamasa (derived from Tenkaichi) Fujiwara Masashige, Edo period (19th century)

44. A large thin handled mirror with a sand bar on which a standing crane with three young stand while the male crane flies down, in the shallows a turtle and young greet the scene, signed Kawakami Yamashiro no kami Fujiwara Munetsugu, with a black lacquer box, Meiji period (late 19th century)

45. A thin round shallow - rimmed mirror which has sagged into convex form with age, with a group of chrysanthemum blossoms to one side, showing considerable patine of age, probably excavated, Heian period (12th century)

46. A round lacquer mirror box and cover, decorated in gold and silver hiramaki-e and heidatsu with a flowering cherry tree on a nashiji ground, the interior of the box black lacquer, the interior of the cover and base nashiji, silver rims
