As can be seen from the photographs, both boxes have some wear overall including minor chips and cracks consistent with age and use.
The first box with karashishi has some lacquer losses along the inner rims and some cracks in particular along the edges inside the box due to lacquer natural shrinkage.
The second box with peony design has a few cracks running from the rim of the cover. The interior and base are re-lacquered and a few surface losses and lacquer lifting to the base.
