The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Overall these very rare chinoiserie plaques are very handsome and decorative in appearance, and the conditon issues are minor. In more detail:
There is some very slight chipping and flaking to the glaze of the frames at the rims, and there are some minute areas of wear to the surface in places. These are consistent with age and use - and are minor.
One plaque:
One of the plaques is slighty more warped than the other, and there is a slight firing fault to the border of this plaque at 4 o'clock (the dark glazes have not taken along this line), and there is a hairline crack extending from this fault approximately 9 cm. into the plaque (this is quite difficult to see on the front).
Other plaque:
The other plaque is less warped and it has four small chips to the glaze of the moulded border at the front of the plaque. These are dirt-filled, and as the surrounding colours are dark, they blend in and are not particularly noticeable.
