Lot Essay

Raised in the heart of Transylvania, Filip grew up surrounded by visually striking but bitter communist beauty. His photography, tainted by his upbringing between the Parisian freedom and the longing for home, has embraced a style that leaves room for interpretation and, most importantly, imagination. Striving to use only natural light as much as possible, Filip aims for a genuine and transparent approach, making the most out of any situation. He is known for focusing on what tells the story and on the behind-the-scene details that make the story. Gradually becoming more and more fond of an art allowing him to channel the vision of the world he lives in, the places he knows, the people he loves, he has entered and won several international photography contests over the years, his work now being used for purposes as diverse as exhibitions, websites, merchandising, architecture, press and literary articles. For the past decade, Filip has been working towards a natural, documentary style photography. In addition to his state degree in photography focused on Fine Art and portraiture, he has also studied at the Fine Art School of the Louvre and is currently studying towards a Photojournalism degree and a Travel Photographer certification from the New York Institute of Photography.
