Lot Essay

A group of boys are gathered on a plain before Mount Fuji. Dressed in a furisode kimono decorated with both origami cranes and stylised cranes, a young boy (wakashu) holds a Northern Goshawk and turns towards the children attending him. In contrast to the playful scene, suyarigasumi clouds spanning the whole triptych suggest an air of classicism.
