1) Poem by Ono no Komachi, from the series One Hundred Poems by One Hundred Poets (Hyakunin isshu no uchi), signed Ichiyusai Kuniyoshi ga, published by Ehiko, circa 1840-42

2) The Syllable Nu, Serving Tea, from the series Index of Representative Proverbs (Tatoegusa oshie hayabiki), signed Cho’oro Kuniyoshi ga, censor’s seal Taka (Takano Shin’emon), published by Aritaya Seiemon (Yueido), circa 1843-47

3) Poem by Sojo Henjo, from the series A Pictorial Commentary on One Hundred Poems by One Hundred Poets (Hyakunin isshu esho), signed Kunisada aratame nidai Ichiyosai Toyokuni ga, censor’s seal Mura (Muramatsu Genroku), published by Sanoya Kihei (Kikakudo), circa 1844

4) The Syllable Yo, Akasaka: Kaoya of the Tamaya (Yo, Akasaka: Tamaya nai Kaoya), from the series Courtesans for Compass Points in Edo (Keisei Edo hokaku), signed Ippitsusai Eisen ga, censor’s seal kiwame, published by Moritaya Hanzo, circa 1829
