William B Gruber (1903-1965) is best known as the inventor of the View-Master. Gruber, who was fascinated by all kinds of art, started collecting Chinese art, particularly porcelain, in the mid-1950s. Over time his collection grew to include the art of Korea and Japan. His stereoscopic work, Chinese Art in 3D, was published posthumously by the Asia Society.

Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema (1917-2007) was a Dutch author best known for his book, Soldier of Orange, which chronicled his heroism in WWII and led to his knighthood. The book was made into a film in 1977 starring Rutger Hauer and was subsequently adapted for the stage and became a hit musical.
