The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
Both box and cover:
-the interior has expected rubbing and light scratches, and the exterior has surface wear to the gilding, iron red and enamel decoration
Cover:
-a section and an associated small chip have been restuck to one side
-a small chip to the gilt boss near one corner
Box:
-a piece has been restuck to one corner and there is a small chip to another corner
-a short firing crack to the inner mouth rim
