The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired since its initial manufacture.
Wild goose badge:
- The badge is faded and there are spots of staining, which are particularly noticeable in the waves
- The reverse is covered with a thin layer of yellow residue (most likely old adhesive), which makes the badge slightly stiff
- There is some loss to the gold-thread ground
- The badge is separated into two parts and has not been sewn together
Silver pheasant badge:
- There is some staining, particularly to the silver pheasant’s body and the waves
- The is some abrasion to the gold-thread ground, which is particularly noticeable along the center seam
- There is a pinprick hole to the upper left part of the keyfret border and a tear along the border on the upper right
One mandarin duck badge:
- The badge is slightly faded
- There is a small hole in the upper right section amid the peach tree decoration
The other:
- The badge is faded
- There is some splitting to the threads around the border
- There is a loss to the bat above the right wing of the mandarin duck and the peach in the lower right has been replaced
- Some abrasion to the gold-thread ground
Paradise flycatcher badge:
- There is some staining, which is particularly noticeable on the paradise flycatcher’s body
- Some areas of wear to the gold-thread ground
