The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
From Left to right:
1st:
- repaired break to one branch attaching the spout
- touch up to the tip of spout with an associated chip
2nd:
- a section of to the two sinuous branches that connect the body and spout are made-up
3rd: - both handle and spout appear to have been restuck and the whole pot is covered with a transparent coating
- a small chip to the foot rim
4th:
- an area of restoration or overpainting to one side of the body
- both handle and spout have been reattached, with associated repair and overpainting to the applied decoration
- a small knock and a few associated faint hairlines, to the other side of the body
- a few minor chips to the applied leaves
5th:
- an area of restoration to the lower body near the handle
- a few glaze flakes and areas of overpainting to the aubergine glaze
- restoration to the top of spout with associated chipping at the tip
- some touch-ups and repairs to the applied leaves and branches
- a small chip and a glaze chip to foot
6th:
- Both handle and spout are restuck with associated painting
All: - some expected light wear, and a few short firing cracks to the applied decoration original to manufacture
