The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of these pieces acquired after their initial manufacture.
One vase:
- There is a star-crack to the base, associated with minute losses along the crack lines.
- There are several short crackles to the mouth rim and above the foot.
The other vase:
- There is a 3.8 cm. long vertical hairline going down from the mouth rim.
- There are some short crackles to the mouth rim.
Both vases:
- There are some firing faults, including pin-size glaze gaps, firing cracks, and wider glaze gaps inside the vases.
- There is some wear to the gilding.
- There are some scattered faint brownish crackles.
- There are some surface scratches and abrasions.
- Both vases with general age-related surface wear as can be expected.
