The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record the changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
Both:
- As could be expected, there are restored breaks to all legs, and there are some other possible restorations to the neck, back, belly and haunches
-The tails are missing
-Surface loss as well as chips and nicks to edges and extremities, as can be expected with works of this type and age
-One ear might be made up
The boar:
- Both ears have been off and re-stuck
- Restoration to proper right eye
- A TL test hole to the belly
The result of Oxford Authentication Ltd. thermoluminescence test no. C97c74 is consistent with the dating of this lot. The test report is currently unavailable.
The sow:
- Losses to teats, as can be expected
- Restored break to the proper left ear, and the proper left hind leg might have some made up parts
