Lot Essay

The reverse is inscribed with a couplet from the Rasikapriya of Keshav Das. It refers to the eight involuntary expressions of emotions, as listed by Keshav Das. These are expressions of 'stupor, trembling, speechlessness, pallor, tearfullness, perspiration, thrill and fainting'. (M.S. Randhawa, Kangra Paintings on Love, New Delhi, 1962, p.51).
