The Kalpasutra is a Jain text detailing the biographies of the tirthankaras, or jinas. Its authorship is ascribed to the priest Bhadrabahu, who lived in the 4th century B.C.E.
Another folio from this series, marked by its colorful illuminated borders, is in the collection of the San Diego Museum of Art (Edwin Binney 3rd Collection, 1990.1504).
