Lot Essay

Baramasa literally translates to the "Twelve Months" and illustrates the text describing the romantic attributes of each month. The present painting depicts the winter month of Phagun. A similar painting, possibly from from the same series, is in the collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art (acc. no. 1994-148-525).
