The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

There are large areas of discoloration throughout, likely due to water and smoke staining. There are small areas of abrasion with associated pigment loss as well as pigment loss due to water damage, under which some of the under-drawing is visible. The most affected area is the lower left quadrant of the painting. There is a vertical seam visible on the right side of the composition where the original canvas support was woven together prior to painting. The painting remains sewn to its silk mount.
