Lot Essay

The distinctive folk art style originating from the rural region of Jinshan became internationally renowned starting from the late 1970s. Reminiscent of life in the countryside, the paintings are both traditional in its roots, yet bold and contemporary in its execution. As one of the most well-known Jinshan folk artists, Cao Xiuwen is an artist and farmer whose works have been exhibited frequently both in China and abroad.
