Lot Essay

Aya Takano is known for her unique illustrations of a supernatural and Superflat world. Repeated in several paintings and illustrations, Takano’s character of the black dog is a prominent part of the mythical world the artist invites us into. Takano channels the golden age of toys in Japan through representing her beloved character as an oversized plush toy.
