Lot Essay

A graduate of both the Sichuan Academic of Fine Arts and the Kassel Academy of Fine Art in Germany, Zhou Chunya was also awarded Artist of the Year at the 2010 Art Power Awards. This sculpture is part of Zhou Chunya’s iconic green dog series, inspired by his beloved German Shepherd, Heigen. This series does not only offer a tangible manifestation of his love for his pet, but also serves as a symbolic self-portrait of the artist himself.
