Lot Essay

A new breed of white tulip, developed in Holland, was officially named in honour of Audrey Hepburn in a dedication ceremony at her ancestral home, Huis Doorn, Apeldoorn, as a tribute to her career and longtime work on behalf of UNICEF. In her speech, Audrey expressed her gratitude for the honour and dedicated the first tulip to her aunt Jacqueline. According to son Luca Dotti, Hepburn said it was the single most romantic thing to happen in her life.
