Lot Essay

Audrey Hepburn was photographed wearing this coat, from Rose Bertin's Autumn/Winter collection 1967/68, walking in Rome in March 1968. The photograph features on the cover of Luca Dotti, and Ludovicia Damiani’s book, 'Audrey in Rome', which was published by Harper Collins in 2011. This model was obviously a favourite as Audrey Hepburn had it in four colours, navy blue, black and red as well as the ivory example offered here which it seems she particularly cherished, as it was only one of the four that she chose to keep in her wardrobe for the rest of her life.
