Lot Essay

The plates were part of a private commission to celebrate the inauguration of President Ronald Reagan on January 20, 1981. An identical set of twelve plates were sold from the personal collection of President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan was sold Christie's, New York, 21-22 September 2016, lot 201, for $37,500 and a further set of six plates were sold in the online sale, lot 489, for $25,000.
