A DEHUA FIGURE OF LIUHAI AND ANOTHER OF GUANYIN
20TH CENTURY
The first immortal figure is depicted standing in a lively pose with his three-legged toad. He holds a string of cash with a gourd vessel strapped around his waist. The base is modelled with frothy waves and rocks under a blue-tinged white glaze. The back is impressed with a square seal mark, probably Zhang Shoushan zhi. The second figure of the Goddess of Mercy is seated and wearing elaborately jeweled robes and a headdress, under a cream-tone glaze.The back is impressed with two seals, one double-gourd-shaped, Fenchi, one square, Chen Mingliang.
