A DEHUA SEATED GUANYIN
20TH CENTURY
The serene Goddess of Mercy is modelled seated on a high, pierced rocky plinth, wearing a voluminous robe cinched at the waist, her hands concealed under the gathers of the sleeves, her chest adorned with a beaded necklace, her contemplative face framed by a pinned upswept topknot and braided strands falling over her shoulders, with a stack of ribbon-tied scrolls at one side. The back is impressed with a square 'fisherman' seal mark. The glaze is a cool-white tone.
