Lot Essay

Photograph ii shows the lunar rover against the desolate lunar background. Mount Hadley rises approximately 4,500 metres (about 14,765 feet) above the plain. The lunar rover could not return to the command and service module with astronauts David Scott and James Irwin, and thus remains on the Moon in the same place to this day.

Of note is David Scott's red bible, which can be seen in the present photograph placed on the hand-controller of the lunar rover, in front of the two seats.
