Performed at an altitude of roughly 160 miles, the crewed rendezvous of Gemini VI-A and Gemini VII was the first of its kind in the history of spaceflight. Due to an absence of turbulence in space, the two spacecraft were able to deftly manouevre as close as 1 foot from one another. During this 4.5 hour encounter Astronaut Thomas Stafford of Gemini VI-A captured a sequence of extradordinary photographs with his 70mm Hasselblad camera, three of which are in the present Lot.
