Lot Essay

The Gemini IV spacewalk lasted approximately 20 minutes, during which time astronaut Ed White had to use a hand-held jet maneuvering gun to safely propel himself. This jet can be seen in the present photograps with its accompanying gold tether securing White to the spacecraft.
