Two ship’s logs, aboard the HMS Shamrock and the HMS Investigator, North Sea, 26 January 1823 – 26 October 1829.
Two volumes, 335 x 220mm. Comprising daily reports on weather, headings and activity on-board, illustrated with two full-page watercolours of ships and another three in sepia wash, nine coastal profiles in watercolour and 28 in sepia, 5 full-page coastal maps of Shetland and Northumberland in sepia wash and one full-page drawing of Scalloway Castle. Brown calf, spine bands gilt.

Surveying in the North Sea: two ships logs aboard the HMS Shamrock and HMS Investigator, charting voyages from the Shetland Islands along the east coast of Britain towards Holland, complemented by attractive coastal profiles, maps and drawings in sepia and watercolour.

The HMS Investigator was a Royal Navy survey brig commissioned in 1810 under George Thomas for the North Sea.
