Second edition, and a fresh copy, with 16th-century embroidered orphrey panels laid into the binding. HC 1339*; BMC III, 783; BSB-Ink. T-205; Bod-inc. T-126; Goff T-234; ISTC it00234000.

Chancery folio (305 x 211mm). 294 leaves, with the two blanks. Initial spaces with printed guide-letter (occasional light marginal dampstain, c.10 bifolia lightly mottled, occasional small stain, minor marginal repair in last 3 leaves). Contemporary Italian blindstamped goatskin over pasteboard, sides inlaid probably in the 17th century with ?16th-century embroidered panels of St. Paul the Apostle (front) and St. John the Baptist (back), full-length in an arched niche, worked in coloured silks and metal threads, pomegranate and sunburst tools in the border, spine diapered with blind fillets, evidence of 4 fore-edge ties, title written along upper and lower edges (lightly worn, discreet repairs); modern folding cloth box.

Stefano Tuana di Grosotto, priest (known to have led a procession against the Swiss in 1487; bought from him by:) – Giaccomo Venosta di Matio, priest presumably of Mazzo di Valtellina (contemporary purchase inscription) – Eusebio Robustelli of Grosotto, bought from a priest named Jacobo Venosta, canon of Mazzo (presbyter of Grosotto and parish priest of Valfurba from 1619 to 1688; 17th-century inscription) – J.R. Ritman (bookplate; sale Sotheby’s, 6 December 2000, lot 43).
