Lot Essay

The present work presumably derives from Frederick Christian Lewis Senior's engraving of Harlow's 1817 portrait of James Northcote, which was published on 1 June 1824 by Hurst, Robinson & Co. Examples of the engraving can be found in the collecton of the National Portrait Gallery, London.
