Lot Essay

Little is known of Alice Hogarth Nicholson, who was born in Manchester and studied there at the School of Art before Atelier Colarossi, Paris. She appears to have spent some time in St Ives, and exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Society of Women Artists among other places.
