The canvas been lined and is on what is possibly the original stretcher which is providing good support. There is some nice imapsto in the sky. There are some areas of surface cracking, mainly to the barges in the foreground, and to some areas of the sky. There are some small areas of surface dirt along the lower left hand edge.
UV light reveals some scattered areas of retouching to the clouds mainly to the right of the canvas and to either side and above Notre Dame. There are further areas of retouching to and around the trees on the left bank and to the distant bridges and the top edge of the Pont Neuf. Some of these areas in the sky and to the left side of the picture are visible to the naked eye. There are further small spots of infilling to old areas of craquelure the barges and quay in the foreground.
