Lot Essay

Bryan Hook was James Clarke Hook's second son, and emulated his father's style. Lundy was a popular subject for Hook, and another example, Gathering eggs on the cliffs of Lundy, was sold in these Rooms on 12 March 2014, lot 101 for £12,500. Bryan Hook was a keen ornithologist and illustrated a number of books on birds.
