The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
oil on canvas. The canvas has been lined. The paint layer appears to be secure ans stable. The paint surface is covered in a thin layer of minor surface dirt. There are patterns of craquelure visible, predominantly in the lighter pigments.
Examination under UV light shows retouching to the lower right quadrant, to the background, to some of the afore mentioned craquelure and to the face and body of the figure.
Overall the painting presents well, in a gilt period style frame.
