The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Oil on panel.
The panel appears to be slightly bowed (convex).
The paint layer appears to be secure and stable with localised areas of drying craquelure consistent with the age and the pigment.
The painted surface appears to have been cleaned in the past.
There are some discoloured retouches visible to the naked eye in the sky.
Examination under UV light shows retouches to outer edges covering damages due to frame abrasions, scattered in paint, retouching and a few spots of wash in the sky.
The painting is presented in a simple gilt period style frame.
