The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The panel appears to be straight and solid
The paint layer appears to be secure and stable
The painted surface has some minor surface dirt and varnish discolouration
There are some minor frame abrasions to the extremeties visible on close inspection.
Examination under UV light shows some sensitively handled retouching to the aforementioned frame abrasions, around the nose and chin of the figure, some small retouchings to the arm of the figure. Some other pigments flouresce wihch are considered to be original.
Overall the painting presents very well in a black period style gilt composite frame with gilt innersection.
