The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The canvas is unlined and is on its original stretcher which is providing good support.
UV light reveals some scattered areas of retouching to the lower right quadrant and to the sky. There are a few minor spots of retouching around the faces of all the figures, and to the far right horse's flank. Some minor scatterings elsewhere. The restoration has been sensitively and competently handled and is not visible to the naked eye.
