The willow pool

The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The canvas is unlined and is on what appears to be its original stretcher which is providing good support. There are two patches just to the right of centre. There are some areas of craquelure. The paint surface appears to be stable and the surface impasto is well preserved.
UV light reveals some areas of restoration including to a possible small puncture corresponding to the patches on the reverse. There are some other scatterings of retouching, mostly in the lower left quadrant with a few scatterings elsewhere.
