The canvas is lined and is on the original stretcher which is providing good support. There are some small areas of paint flaking and losses to the lower left corner, to the pedlar's coat, and at the lower right edge. There are are a few areas of scuffing to the upper and lower edge. There are some areas of paint separation in the trees upper left, and to the left of the crockery, as well as in other areas of the bushes and foliage. There is a slightly dirty varnish and the picture might benefit from a light clean.
Under UV light there is some retouching to frame abrasions along the lower and left edges. There is a possible area of retouching to an area of paint loss in the brickwork, upper left. There are some further small areas of retouching in lower left corner, above the girl's heads and to the sky and to a few other background areas. There is a small bit of retouching to the right hand girl's chin.
