Lot Essay

Fast Castle is the ruined remains of a coastal fortress, in Berwickshire, to the south-east of Scotland. Although it was first recorded as a castle in 1333, there is evidence of Iron Age habitiation on the site. The castle is thought to have inspired Sir Walter Scott's fictional 'Wolf Crag' in his 1819 The Bride of Lammermoor.
