Lot Essay

Although Graham Dry suggests that Four Hunting Scenes may have been published in an edition of approximately thirty, the series is of great rarity at auction. To our knowledge only two sets have been offered in the last three decades: from the Studio of Robert Polhill Bevan, Christie's South Kensington, 3 December 2003, lot 568 (with the portfolio with the lithograph Huntsman and Hounds on the cover); and Christie's London, 20 November 2018, lot 64.
