Lot Essay

The sitter was the Hon. Henrietta Maria Forester, daughter of the 1st Lord Forester and sister of Selina, the wife of the 3rd Earl of Bradford. She married Lord Albert Conyngham on 6 July 1833, who later became Lord Londesborough. A later copy painted in 1861 for her son, and presumably given by him to his aunt Selina, is in the collection at Weston Park, Shropshire.
